Every home standby power system needs a transfer switch. It’s how your generator makes sure the power stays on when there’s an outage – automatically switching your home’s circuits from the grid to your generator.
Featuring a Nema 3R aluminum enclosure, this particular switch can be installed either indoors or outdoors.
Through the use of digital power technology (DPM), this switch has the capability to manage up to 4 individual HVAC (24 VAC controlled) loads with no additional hardware. DPM technology – Load management systems are designed to work together to prevent a generator from being overloaded by large appliance loads. Multiple air conditioner loads (up to 4) can be managed with DPM. Loads to be “shed” are in 4 priority levels. Up to 8 more loads can be managed as well, providing the most installation efficient power management options available with the use of Smart Management Modules.
Designed for use with single phase generators that utilize an Evolution or Nexus controller. Compatible with Generac Smart Management Modules, sold separately.

Generac Automatic Transfer Switches are designed for use with single phase generators that utilize an Evolution or Nexus Controller. The 150-Amp open transition switch is available in single phase with service equipment rated configurations. Through the use of digital power technology (DPM), these switches have the capability to manage up to 4 individual HVAC (24 VAC controlled) loads with no additional hardware.

How It Works:
1. By monitoring generator engine performance, the switch is able to identify when the generator approaches overload. At the appropriate time, the switch disconnects two air conditioners, typically the highest electrical load in the house.
2. After a 5-minute delay to allow for compressor bleed out, the switch brings the AC units back online one after the other with a 30-second delay in between. This is a standard capability in all Generac Smart Switches and does not require any additional components, unlike competitive transfer switches.
3. In addition, up to four other large 240V loads can be managed when the Smart Switch is used in conjunction with individual DLM modules.
• DLM modules are 50 Amps each and are housed in a NEMA 3R enclosure, giving the installer the option to install them either at the electrical panel or anywhere in-line indoors or outdoors between the electrical panel and the appliance.
• After the four loads are shed, they are brought back individually to assure DLM Module generator capability and eliminate the potential of overload.

Generac’s 150 Amp single-phase NEMA 3R service rated automatic transfer switch is used for transferring electrical load from a utility (normal) power source to a generator (standby) power source. Transfer of electrical loads occurs automatically when the utility power source has failed or is substantially reduced and the generator source voltage and frequency have reached an acceptable level.
The transfer switch prevents electrical feedback between two different power sources (such as the utility and generator sources) and, for that reason, codes require it in all standby electric system installations. The transfer switch consists of a transfer mechanism, utility service disconnect circuit breaker and a Smart A/C module incorporating fuses and two terminal blocks for transfer switch connections.
