Boxabl believes folding homes are key to efficient transport. The typical modular home is fourteen feet wide and requires that familiar “wide load” sign and escort trucks while it travels down a highway. Boxabl is making their foldable home just eight feet wide, which requires no special assistance. This means the homes can be shipped anywhere for potentially less cost.
“I think the only way to solve housing is with solutions like this that are technology oriented. It’s really an issue of supply and demand. If there’s more supply price will go down,” concluded Tiramani.
3D printing has become the hottest new construction technology of the past few years, with houses being laid down in California, Texas, New York, Mexico, Canada, Italy, and Germany, to name just a few. There’s no doubt it’s an efficient, low-cost way to build durable homes, with the added bonus of a wow factor (which may soon expire given how fast the method seems to be proliferating).

There’s since been some confusion about whether Musk’s Boca Chica, Texas house is actually a Boxabl or a similar pre-fabricated home from a different builder, but either way, it’s been good publicity for Boxabl.
The kitchen and bathroom are on the same side of the house, with items like the refrigerator, toilet, and sinks already built in. This section stays upright throughout the shipping process. Upon arrival, the house just needs to be “unfolded.” It can be bolted to any foundation using connector plates.
Order one and a semi hauling the house along with a crane will drop it off and unfold the house in about a day with all of the components inside—from windows to kitchen cabinets. But you’ll need to prep the foundation first and plan to have utilities hook it up (unless you’re living off the grid).

Boxabl Casita ADU
Addendum Dwelling Units (ADUs) are another tiny house option. Perfect for someone who owns a regular house with a large yard and would like to share it with a family member or as a rental.
